Our Moments in Time
Our Moments in Time
Pearl Harbor shocked the nation, rallying the United States to enter World War II. At Indiana University, physical education became a required credit for students to shape men into soldiers and women into workers on the home front. Hitler's "Final Solution" unleashed horror through genocide upon Jews, Slavic people, and Roma (Gypsies). At home, IU students recorded a championship in cross country. The Metropolitan Opera Company performed "Aida" at IU. However, the war left nothing untouched. IU lost 389 students during WWII. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten.
