Translated from the German Wikipedia
Max Wissner was born as the second child of architect and railway engineer Gustav Wissner and his wife Sophie. In 1882, the family moved to Karlsruhe. In 1887, Max Wissner began an apprenticeship as a decorative painter. From 1890 to 1893, he attended the School of Arts and Crafts in Karlsruhe, where he studied under Hermann Gφtz.

In 1891, the family moved to Regensburg; his father Gustav Wissner became an architect at the Royal State Building Authority there. From 1893 to 1896, Max Wissner performed his military service and subsequently went traveling. In 1900, he spent some time in Regensburg and became acquainted with the banker Max Weinschenk. From

2. Max Wissner Marker
1908 to 1914, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart under Robert Haug. In 1914, he volunteered to participate in the First World War. After the end of the war in 1918, he lived with his mother and sister in Regensburg.

In 1924, Wissner co-founded the artists' association “Eule”. In 1945, he was elected chairman of the Regensburg Artists’ Association, which existed only briefly. In 1946, he was made honorary president of the Professional Association of Visual Artists of Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate, and in 1952, an honorary member of the Regensburg Art and Crafts Association. After suffering a stroke in 1955, he was paralyzed on his right side.
