Inscription. Built c.1790 as a luxurious mansion house for the Ingram family of Wakefield banking firm Ingram and Kennet. The property was sold following the bank's collapse in 1812. From 1825 to 1829 it was owned by the banking firm of Wentworth, Chaloner and Rishworth. After that bank also collapsed, the property was acquired by the Wakefield banking company, later the Wakefield and Barnsley Union Bank, established in 1832. It was later sub-divided and used as offices for many years.
