1. Christian House Marker
Inscription. George Christian Jr. lived next door to the Hardings with his wife, Stella, and sons, Warren and John. Christian was personal secretary to Harding in both the U.S. Senate and in the White House. In 1920, the Christians rented their Marion home to the National Republican Party to use as Harding Campaign Headquarters. Passersby would have heard through the open windows the clacking of typewriters and bits of conversations and would have seen the publicity staff, political advisers and the Hardings themselves scurrying back and forth between the two houses. The senator's sparsely furnished campaign office was the Christians' former dining room.

The house, purchased by the Harding Memorial Association later in the 1920s, was torn down in the 1950s. The HMA planned to build a "fireproof" museum but lacked the finances.

Erected 2020.
