Patrick Healy III House

Patrick Healy III House. Eccles Avenue Historic District. Constructed circa 1949, the Patrick Healy III house was originally one of a matching pair of residences facing 26 Street. Later, the house was redesigned with an addition to face Eccles Avenue and the well-known Patrick Healy Jr. House across the street. The house was sold in 1956 to Lon and Florence Rothey, who lived in the house for the following fifty years. It was then sold to Mr. Richard W. H. Moore. , , Mr. Patrick Healy III was a long-time resident of Utah and Washington, D.C. Mr. Healy's lifetime of public service was important to Utah and to the nation as a whole. He was a former Executive Director of the National League of Cities; he assisted with the Interstate Highway, Urban Coalition, and Urban Mass Transit Acts; he was instrumental in working with the Model Cities Program, was a guiding force in the creation of Sister City International, author of the book The Nation's Cities: Change and Challenge, was Chairman of the Utah State Tax Commission, and was a member of many nationwide councils and committees. He was also a successful businessman. Mr. Healy owned the Pepsi Cola Co. bottling plant in Ogden and managed various family enterprises. Mr. Patrick Healy III died at the age of 82 in Washington, DC. Mr. Healy's work remains a driving force behind the National League of Cities.
