Nadat een allesverwoestende brand een kapitale woning in de as gelegd had, bouwde het bestuur van de nu verdwenen Kleiwegkerk in 1907 op deze plaats een parochiehuis onder de naam St. Theodorus-stichting. Tal van r.k. verenigingen kwamen hier jarenlang bijeen. Het ontwerp is van de Goudse architect C.P.W. Dessing, die ook tekende voor de imposante Gouwekerk. Het gebouw is rijk aan siermetselwerk, bewerkte natuursteen en tegels. Een marmeren plaquette gedenkt de stichter, pastoor P.C.Th. Malingré, die ook is afgebeeld in de geveltop. Naast de voordeur is nog een oude wijkaanduiding van Gouda te zien.

(English translation:)
After a devastating fire destroyed a grand house in 1907, the board of the now-defunct Kleiwegkerk built a parish hall on this site under the name St. Theodorus Foundation. Numerous Roman Catholic organizations met here for many years. The design was by Gouda architect C.P.W. Dessing, who also designed the imposing Gouwekerk. The building is richly decorated with decorative brickwork, carved natural stone, and tiles. A marble plaque commemorates its founder, Pastor P.C.Th. Malingré,
