Inscription. On April 2, 1921, the Oklahoma Delta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity began by initiating 27 men of the University of Oklahoma. In 2021, Delta Kappa celebrates its centennial as a leading chapter both nationally and at OU. From its first location at 767 Asp Avenue, Delta Kappa prospered and in 1928 built its first new home at 1005 S. Jenkins Avenue. In 1965, through efforts spearheaded by Globe Life founders Ralph Reece '39 and John Singletary '39, the chapter relocated to a newly constructed house at 1411 Elm Avenue. Delta Kappa's current home at 1310 College Avenue, adorned with a stained glass ATO crest and an iron Maltese Cross, was completed in 2013 thanks to the generosity of R. Mel Clark '70, Peter C. Godfrey '75, Lew O. Ward '51, and a host of Delta Kappa alumni. Delta Kappa remains dedicated to scholarship, the pursuit of True Merit, and “a lifetime of brotherhood.”

founded ATO in hopes of reuniting the nation's youth in brotherhood, as best expressed in the ATO Creed:

“To bind men together in a brotherhood based upon eternal and immutable principles, with a bond as strong as right itself and as lasting as humanity: to know no North, no South, no East, no West, but to know man as man, to teach that true men the world over should stand together and contend for supremacy of good over evil: to teach, not politics, but morals: to foster. not partisanship, but the recognition of true merit wherever found: to have no narrower limits within which to work together for the elevation of man than the outlines of the world: these were the thoughts and hopes uppermost in the minds of the founders of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.” – Otis Allan Glazebrook, 1880

Also see . . .  The ATO Story | Leading the Charge. Alpha Tau Omega began as an idea in the mind of a young Civil War veteran who wanted peace and reconciliation. His name was Otis Allan Glazebrook. His people were defeated, many of their cities burned, much of their countryside ravaged. But Glazebrook, who had helped bury the dead of both sides, believed in a better future.
