The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star Medal to P.F.C. St. Onge for service as set forth in the following:

Citation:
"For conspicuous Gallantry and Integrity while serving with Co. G., 2nd Bn. 22nd Marine Brigade, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Guam, Marianas Islands, from 21 to 27 July, 1944. When his platoon was suddenly pinned down by fire from a concealed enemy machine gun on Orote Peninsula on July 27, P.F.C. St. Onge continued alone in the assault against the hostile position and had advanced to within 15 yds. of the enemy when hit by hostile fire. Although he sustained serious wounds, he doggedly continued to attack. By his persistent firing, contributed materially to disrupting the enemy, thereby allowing his platoon to resume the attack. His Initiative, Courage, and Devotion to duty, were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service. "

John L Sullivan
Secretary of the Navy
