1. The Harlem Stage Gatehouse Marker
Inscription. Harlem Stage opened its new performance facility, the Gatehouse, in October 2006. This event represented the beginning of a new era in the history of Aaron Davis Hall, Inc which has served as Harlem's Center for the Performing Arts since its inception in 1979. Throughout its illustrious history, Harlem Stage's greatest strength has been as an incubator of new works by emerging and established artists of color, linking artists to community while honoring tradition and nurturing innovation.
