Inscription. West Huntsville Baptist Church was offically chartered on October 29, 1899, as a local assembly of committed believers in the West Huntsville Cotton Mills Village. The original structure still stands at the corner of 7th Avenue and 9th Street. A few years later, the current property was purchased to accommodate expected growth. The first church built on this site was erected in 1907. It was destroyed by a fire in 1936 and replaced with a stone-covered building. The current church, completed in 1961, features architectural elements. including the central arch and arched stained-glass windows, portraying Renaissance Revival influences, a style that was unique in Huntsville at the time of construction.

From this location, many pastors and faithful congregants have ministered to the surrounding community, the state, and the world. As West Huntsville Baptist marks its anniversary, the members strive to reflect the spirit found in Philippians 2:16: "Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain."

Erected in commemoration of the church's 125th anniversary.
