Inscription.  
In 1904 kochten twee ondernemers uit Den Bosch op deze plek een dubbel pand. Onder de naam Magazijn De Zon vestigden zij er een zaak in manufacturen en interieurbenodigdheden als filiaal van Vroom & Dreesmann. In 1909 werd het pand samen met een buurpand vervangen door het huidige warenhuis van de Rotterdamse architect P.G. Buskens. De stijl is die van de Jugendstil met kenmerkende materialen als glas-in-lood, staal, natuursteen en siermetselwerk. Bij de restauratie in 1989 werd veel van de oorspronkelijke luister hersteld. Het is het enig bewaard gebleven voorbeeld in Gouda van een vroeg warenhuis.

In 1904, two entrepreneurs from 's-Hertogenbosch purchased a double building on this site. Under the name Magazijn De Zon, they established a business specializing in textiles and home furnishings as a branch of Vroom & Dreesmann. In 1909, the building, along with a neighboring one, was replaced by the current department store, designed by Rotterdam architect P.G. Buskens. decorative brickwork. During the 1989 restoration, much of the original splendor was restored. It is the only surviving example of an early department store in Gouda.
