1. Conventional Mining Section Marker

Inscription. The coal was dynamited at the face of the mine. A waiting loader was used to gather and scoop coal from the mine floor onto it's conveyor, then filling at shuttlecar. The shuttlecar transported the coal to one of fourteen five-tone coal cars, on rails. Electric or diesel locomotives pulled the coal cars out of the mine to a loading tipple to be crushed, washed, oiled and loaded into railroad cars for shipment.
