Regarding Sgt. Earl R. Fillmore, Jr. Memorial Garden. Fillmore was killed in action in Mogadishu, Somalia, Africa, Oct. 3, 1993, during Operation Restore Hope - an incident portrayed in the movie Black Hawk Down. He was 28. He was serving as a combat medic with the U.S. Army's super-secret Delta Force. When he was selected for Delta Force in 1989 at 24, he was the youngest member. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his actions to rescue the downed helicopter crew.
