1. Allen J. (Two-Gun) Gettel Marker
Inscription. Born and raised in Norfolk County, signed in 1936 and advanced through Yankee system winning 12 games for Newark Bears in 1941. War essential farming kept him home 1943-44, but won 17 and struck out 232 for 1944 Tars to lead Piedmont League.

Had 9 wins as Yankee rookie in 1945 and 11 with the Indians in 1947. Also spent time with White Sox, Senators, Giants and Cardinals. Won 100 games in six years at Oakland (Pacific Coast League) with high mark of 24-14 in 1953.

Earned nickname appearing in cowboy movies, and with fancy western outfits.

Regarding Allen J. (Two-Gun) Gettel. The Tidewater Baseball Shrine recognizes players and executives who have significantly contributed to the game of baseball in the Tidewater area of Virginia. The shrine is located at Harbor Park, which is home to the Norfolk Tides, a AAA minor league baseball team affiliated with the Baltimore Orioles. The Norfolk Tides annually induct new members into the shrine.
