Inscription. In 1950, the Leithauser family built this building as a new modern supermarket to expand their grocery business from the small building two lots east. As the town grew, they added a variety store and barbershop. Hours were long, particularly during hunting season when local shops, cafes and gas stations took turns staying open 24 hours. The first Leithauser Grocery, built near this spot in 1911, burned down in the fire of 1924. It was one of the oldest businesses in Sisters.
