1. Ladd's Cafe Marker

Inscription. On this site was this little cafe which subsequently evolved into the current restaurant. The Ponderosa Café, built in 1934 became Ladd’s Café around 1945. Owner Arthur Ladd was on the Sisters City Council at the time. After his death, new owner Neil Winkle moved it slightly west, enlarged and named it Ruth’s Café. He also added the Wink Room Bar. In the 1970’s, as the Gallery Restaurant, local artist Ray Eyerly held court on his bar stool daily. His numerous paintings done in the western tradition adorned the walls here.
