Pitched perfect 4-0 game against Minnesota, as improved club moved to Oakland in 1968. Became leader of great staff that swept to 4 straight Division Titles (1971-1974) and 3 World Championships (1972-74).
Won 1974 Cy Young Award with A.L. Leading 25 wins and 2.49 ERA.
After a 5 year record (1970-74) of 107-49 and 2.89 ERA, Finley breached contract, and as 1st free agent on open market, signed lucrative contract with Yankees that changed baseball forever.
Led 1975 A.L. with 23 wins and amazing 30 complete games were top mark by any pitcher between 1953 and this 1989 induction.
Durable righthander helped N.Y. to 3 World Series (1976-1978) and 2 World Titles (1977-78) before retiring to his beloved farm after 1979 season.
His quiet excellence in the midst of Oakland and Yankee turmoil earned him popular election to Hall of Fame in 1987.
