Beverly Hills
| | Golden Shield Commemorative Plaque | |
Al Mendelson and Nate Rimer established a delicatessen called Nate 'N Al at this site in 1945. Al and Nate had met in Detroit and moved west to Southern California to open their own delicatessen. The deli expanded over many years and was popular as a gathering place for local residents and with the luminaries from the entertainment industry. The delicatessen also represents the rise of the Jewish population in Los Angeles in the 1940s and rapidly became a gathering place for the Jewish community. It is the third oldest Jewish deli in the Los Angeles area.
Erected by City of Beverly Hills. (Marker Number 4.)
