1. The Meetinghouse at George School Marker
Inscription.

This Meetinghouse was erected in 1812 at 20 South Twelfth Street in Philadelphia. Six of the trusses were part of the 1755 Meetinghouse located on Second and High Streets. The Meetinghouse was the home of the Monthly Meeting of Friends of Philadelphia for the Western District, the Central Philadelphia Monthly Meeting, the birthplace of the American Friends Service Committee, and the headquarters of many local, national and worldwide Quaker organizations.

In 1973-74 the Meetinghouse was reconstructed here through a generous gift of the Spruance and Alden families. The Central Philadelphia Monthly Meeting donated the funds for transporting the materials to George School.

Erected by George School.
