Player-Manager of Tars in 1941, finishing 4th. Had eight first division finishes in 10 minor league seasons as Manager and .322 Average as player. Became Manager of Phillies in mid-1948. Leading famed Whis Kids to 1950 pennant, one of only 2 Philadelphia flags in history. Managed Phillies all or part of eight seasons.
