1. Welcome to Camp Glenn Marker

Inscription.
Camp Edwin F. Glenn, named after a former Post Commander, was constructed in 1935. It originally housed the Citizen's Military Training Camp, but served many purposes over time.

Camp Glenn proved successful as a camp within the larger Fort Harrison area.

Camp Glenn was set up to operate as a self contained camp. Residents lived in 360 tents placed on concrete pads. Mess halls and shower buildings circled the compound. A butcher shop, ice house and mechanic's building allowed Camp Glen to function independently from Fort Harrison.

1934-1941: Citizen's Military Training Camp. This program provided young men with military training leading to full commission as a Reserve Officer.

1933-1941: Indiana District Headquarters for the Civilian Conservation Corps. Administrative and planning support for Indiana's CCC was located at Camp Glenn.

1941-1943: World War II Military Police School.

1944-1945: Prisoner of War Camp. Both Italian and German prisoners were held at Camp Glenn.

Camp Glenn represents an era of changing defense needs in our nation. In 1995, Camp Glenn was designated a National Historic District.
