Inscription. Born and raised in Norfolk. Graduated Maury High in 1930.

Started journalistic career with Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch rising to Assistant Sports Editor before joining Navy at start of World War II.

During 4 service years, played prominent role in bringing together top Major League players to form teams at the Naval Station and Air Station that entertained hundreds of thousands of servicemen and civilians.

After discharge, became General Manager (1946) at Shelby, N.C. then scouted for Cubs through 1950.

Joined White Sox staff (1951-67), was East Coast Supervisor over 10 years.

Among first hired by newly formed Kansas City Royals in 1968, and after 3 years opted for pro coverage for New York Mets (1971-75).

Accepted assignment to Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina Territory with Montreal Expos in 1976.

Signed prominent Major Leaguers Junior Gilliam, Luis Aparicio, Bruce Howard, Al Weis, J.C. Martin and countless other successful players.

Honored by Major and Minor Leagues for long and meritorious service to baseball.
