Inscription.

The Methodist Episcopal congregation erected a church on this site in 1830. In 1874, with the congregation prosperous and growing, the original church was torn down and replaced. In 1900, the present edifice was built with funds donated by the Mary Durrell family. The building reflects 19th century neoclassic style inspired by the architect Asher Benjamin.
