1. Harold Joseph (Pie) Traynor Marker

Inscription. Born Framingham, Mass.
Pittsburgh Pirates brought him to Majors in September of impressive pro rookie season with Frank Lawrence in Portsmouth in 1920.

After .336 season with 47 SB’s at Birmingham, joined Pirates to stay at end of 1921.

He hit over .300 10 times , drove in over 100 runs 7 times and compiled .320 lifetime average in 13 year career cut short by injury in 1935.

Appeared in 2 World Series, leading Pirates to exciting 7 game win over Washington in 1925 with .346 average, and falling victim to vaunted Yankee Juggernaut’s sweep in 1927.

Named to Sporting News All-Star Major League Team7 times (1925-27, 1929, 1931-33) and elected to Hall of Fame in 1948.

Named Manager of Pirates in 1934 while still playing, and had 5 1st Division finishes in his six year tenure.

His defensive prowess matched his offensive skills and he is considered by many the best 3rd baseman of all time.
