1. Luthers Hofje / Lutheran Almshouse Marker
Inscription.  
Gebouwd ca. 1648 op het oude terrein van het klooster der Norbertijnen. Ingrijpend verbouwd in 1804. Ingang aan Magdalenastraat in 1888 verplaatst naar Witte Herenstraat. In z.w.-hoek consistoriekamer van Luth. kerk met uitgebouwde preekstoel.

Built around 1648 on the former site of the Norbertine monastery. Extensively renovated in 1804. The entrance on Magdalenastraat was moved to Witte Herenstraat in 1888. The southwest corner houses the consistory room of the Lutheran church with an extended pulpit.

The hofje was founded by the Lutheran Church in 1615. Originally the people living in the hofje were members of this church, but nowadays only the board of the hofje is appointed by the Lutheran Church. The hofje adjoins the Lutheran church itself, and has an unusual addition in the garden, namely an outdoor pulpit. From this pulpit, the minister could address the women in the hofje. With five houses, it is the smallest hofje in Haarlem.
