Inscription.
Before it became the Rose Garden Tea Room, this building served as founder Henry E. Huntington's billiard room and two-lane bowling alley. After The Huntington opened to visitors in 1928, the billiard room at the front was converted to a tearoom, and the long stretch of the bowling alley at the back became the kitchen.

Pasadena architect Myron Hunt designed the structure - built in 1911 - as well as the Huntington residence (now the Huntington Art Gallery), the Library building, and the garage (now the MaryLou and George Boone Gallery).
