1. Humberstone Hall - Marker
Inscription.
This hall served as a Municipal Building for 118 years for the former Township of Humberstone.

The original hall with its local Welland Canal stone and Palladian windows was designed by architect John Latshaw in 1852.

The rear Lock-up wing for wayward travellers was designed by architect G. A. Mitchell in 1906.

The hall was renovated for community use by the City of Port Colborne in 1981.

Photo faces west and south-west, from Main St W and Mellanby Avenue. Main St W is along the right. The "rear Lock-up wing" (mentioned in the marker text) is visible (left). Re-built portions of the east wall show where something large (left of the centre window; perhaps a doorway or fireplace) and a small window (right of the centre window) used to be.
