95th Bomb Group (H)
The bronze sphere is symbolic of the geographically limited world in which the 95th Bomb Group lived and fought during WW II. The black granite of the base is a reminder of the black days of hardship that war forced us to endure and is a special remembrance of those who lost their lives.

The formation of B-17s honors the 95th Bomb Group for 321 combat missions and as the leader of the first American bombers to complete a daylight raid on the Nazi capital of Berlin.

Activated 15 June 1942 Barksdale, La.
Formed October 1942 at Geiger Field Washington
Operational 13 May 1943 to 20 April 1945
Lost 156 B-17s in combat - Destroyed 425 enemy aircraft
611 men killed in action - 5 missing - 117 returned wounded
851 POW's - 65 internees - 61 evaders
