It's now been five minutes since Contract 13 has caved in and water has been filling the mine.

The miners in the Drifts and 200' level have perished and water and mud continues to rush in to the mine.

By this time, Young Frank Hvratin and his partner Harry Hosford, have left their work stations at the 175 foot level, and have made it to the only ladder that leads to the surface.

Once they made it to the ladder, they were joined by miners Emil Kainu and Matt Kangas and they all start heading up the pump shaft ladder.
