Jordan Munn House
During restoration, it was discovered that the house has a timber frame construction, similar to many barns of the era, but very unique for a house. It also became evident that the brick house was an addition to an older timber frame section, likely the original house on the property. This portion of the house had deteriorated significantly and was demolished in 2015.
The house was constructed in the early 19th century, likely by Jordan Munn, the son of Daniel and Millicent Munn who founded the former hamlet of Munn's Corners at Dundas Street and Sixth Line. In 2015, the house was relocated to its current site, approximately 200 metres to the northeast from its original location on Dundas Street.
The Jordan Munn House is a reminder of the former agricultural landscape of Trafalgar Township and is one of the last remaining historic structures associated with the former hamlet of Munn's Corners. The property is also associated with the ancestors of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation who used the land prior to European settlement of this area.
