M41 Walker Bulldog–American Light Tank. . , The M41 Walker Bulldog was placed into service in 1953 during the Korean War. The tank, named for Army General Walton Walker, was an agile and well armed vehicle. However, due to its weight, fuel consumption and loud engine noise the tank saw limited combat action with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. During the Vietnam War the Walker Bulldog was used primarily for internal security missions. The tank was successful in destroying North Vietnamese armor early in the war until the Russian T54 Tank was commissioned by the North Vietnamese Army. Due to the heavy armor of the T54 Tank, the Walker Bulldog's gun was found to be ineffective.
