1. Gay Brothers Bakery Building - Erected In 1907 Marker
Inscription. Founded in 1904 in a basement room across the street, Gay Brothers Bakery constructed this building three years later. It was used until the bakery closed in 1958. A widely known business for over half a century, Gay Brothers also had a candy division. Their Niagara Cream Caramels were marketed across Canada. The remnants of the bakery is still recognized today by the sign on the west side of the building. The building is also known as the Chong Building and has been recently renovated for residential apartments and commercial on the ground floor facing Queen Street.

Regarding Gay Brothers Bakery Building - Erected In 1907. 1. David Gay came from Niagara Falls N.Y., purchased McMillan's Bakery on Queen Street in 1904, and roped his brothers David, Charles and William into the business. At one time there were 12 bakers.
