1. Ontario Hydro Memorial - Marker

Inscription. From the 1890s to the 1950s a number of generating stations were constructed along the Ontario side of the Niagara River. As a result, the area around Niagara Falls and Queenston became the principal source of hydroelectricity in the province. This plaque commemorates the thousands of individuals whose skill and labour built these power plants. It is located along what became known as the Haulage Road, which was used during the early 1950s to transport excavated material from the Sir Adam Beck No. 2 construction site to several locations in the north end of Niagara Falls.
