Inscription.
• Thomas and Mina both caught tarpon in the waters surrounding their Fort Myers estate, as did their son Charles. In a 1908 letter to Charles, Mina commented, "This morning I fished for tarpon and do you know I had 180 (pound) fish on my line and the miserable fish threw my bait. Was not that a shame?"

• Excellent fishing was only a short boat ride away for the Edison family. In 1904, they purchased an electric boat named the Reliance. A 36' long, low drafting river touring vessel, it had a top speed of 8 MPH and could be recharged at a station in the Edison boathouse. The Fords also enjoyed boating aboard their yacht, the Sialia, which was over 200' long. Because of its size, the Sialia could not navigate the shallow Caloosahatchee River.

• Both the Edison and Ford families enjoyed eating fish, crabs, oysters and clams. Many of the same local varieties of seafood enjoyed by these historic families are still served by Pinchers.
