Cosimo Cenni (notizie 1620-1643)
| | Bronzo/Bronze; 1638 | |
Commissioned by Grand Duke Ferdinando II de' Medici for the Fortress of Pisa, this cannon is decorated both with the bearded head of Saint Paul (from whom it derives its name) and the Medici coat of arms. It represents one of the highest achievements in the art of bronze casting in 17th-century Florence. Its rich decoration is meant to exalt the military power of Tuscany.
