[English translation of Italian text:]
Between the Church of San Martino del Vescovo and the homes of the Donati and Mardoli families stood the adjacent houses of Bello and Bellincione Alighieri, and in this ancestral home Dante was born.
The City of Florence secured possession of the property and, upon the remnants of the old houses, built this as a new public tribute to the divine poet.
Erected 1911 by the City of Florence.
