Er war durch Abstammung und Ehe eng verwandt mit dem preußischen Königshaus und hatte große Bedeutung für die gesellschaftliche und wirtschaftliche Entwicklung seines Landes

Here until its destruction during the Second World War stood the “Dutch Palace”. After his abdication, King William I (August 24, 1772 - December 12, 1843) of the Netherlands resided here until his death. He was closely related to the Prussian royal family through descent and marriage and was of great importance for the social and economic development of his country.
