Meet one of Juneau's most loved and celebrated humpback whales. Flame (SEAK ID 1538) was born in 2001. She winters off Maui, Hawaii, and returns to Southeast Alaska each summer to feed. Flame is a local icon, known for her loyalty to Juneau waters and for being a prolific mother. May she and her calves return to Juneau waters for many years to come

Flame's flukes were sculpted and pointed at the UAS Technical Center in Juneau. Richard creates art that highlights the intricacy and beauty of animals. His studio, Toils of Stellwagen, follows the wholes between Moul, Stellwagen Bank, and Southeast Alaska
