1. Bunkhouse Marker
Bunkhouse
This bunkhouse was originally constructed in the 1930s as two separate buildings on another site. They were moved here and connected to each other in 1946 to house the family's hired cowmen. No cooking was done inside the small rooms and meals were eaten nearby in the shade of large oak trees, or on the back porch of the main house.
The Roberts' employed as many as 15 cowmen to help work their herds.
Much of the original bunkhouse was destroyed by fire in 1999. The room on the west end survived and provided a pattern to restore the other rooms to their original appearance.
