The only man to play in each of the Mets first 18 seasons…finished his career as team leader in hits (1,418) and doubles (225)…hit a home run in game three of the 1969 World Series and delivered a two-run single in the deciding game five of the 1973 National League Championship series…a native New Yorker, he was a baseball star at James Monroe High School in the Bronx.
