A bold leader who transformed the Mets into winners after seven straight losing seasons…in 1986, his club won 108 regular season games en route to the World Series Championship…he finished his Mets career with the best managerial records in franchise history (595-417)…from 1984-1990, the Mets averaged more than 95 victories and captured a second division crown in 1988 with 100 wins.
