Inscription. A seven-time All-Star who was a consummate professional. He is the franchise leader in hits, RBI, runs, doubles, and walks. Upon his retirement, ranked second in games played and home runs. Joins Tom Seaver as the only player to have his number retired and go into the Mets Hall of Fame on the same day. Named the fourth captain in team history. A two-time Gold Glove winner and two-time Silver Slugger. Became just the third player in Mets history to have a 30-home run and 30-stolen base season (2007).
