Inscription.

As early as the 9th century French pilgrims on their way to Rome lodged at a hostel outside the circuit of the "old" walls, dedicated to St Remigius. A first church is recorded in 1040, although the present gothic building dates from the late-13th century. The gabled faηade is adorned with little arches running under the eves. The rectangular interior has aisles of the same height as the nave, with three chapels at the east

Regarding Chiesa di San Remigio / Church of Saint Remigius. Saint Remigius (known in French as Remy) was the long-time Bishop of Reims in France and is one of that country's patron saints. Remigius was in his early 20s and not yet an ordained preist when he was elected bishop of Reims. On Christmas Day 496, Remigius baptized King Clovis I, a key moment in the Christianization of the Franks.
