Regarding George R. Patterson (D). The only six-term Commissioner in Lawrence County history, Patterson was first sworn in in 1983. He served one term and lost the following election. In 1990, he won and went on to serve five consecutive terms. He died in 2007 at the age of 67 after a battle with cancer.
