Under the authority of Rector Ferdinando Rubini, the central body of the fa็ade was completely renovated at a cost of 73,941.38 lire. The work, begun on September 18, 1868, under the direction of Professor Lorenzo Doveri, was completed on August 14, 1869, by Professor Giuseppe Partini.

Regarding 1868-69 Renovation of the Siena Cathedral Fa็ade. Work on the Duomo of Siena, located at Siena's highest point, began in 1226 and continued until at least 1400. The fa็ade, decorated with elaborate sculptures, including gargoyles and saints, was renovated in 1869, with the originals moved to the nearby Museo dell'Opera and replaced by exact replicas.
