1. Pangburn Building Marker
Pangburn Building
Myron J. Fowler (1852 - 1907) was a prolific builder of homes in the growing hamlet of Knowersville. He completed the Pangburn Building for John H. Pangburn in May of 1886. Mr. Pangburn was in partnership with his father-in-law J. F. Mynderse. The partnership was dissolved on March 29, 1886, so Pangburn could start his own business. Shortly after losing their building and business in the Great Fire of April 30, 1886, the Pangburn Building was sold to the druggist and grocer firm of Davenport & Frederick. They moved their business to the new site. Spacious and ideally located, it was quickly stocked with household goods and farm needs. The building also housed the Enterprise newspaper from 1889 - 1893 and was the post office while Mr. Pangburn was postmaster.
