Inscription. This building is dedicated to the lifelong mission of Geoffrey Canada, visionary founder of the Harlem Children's Zone and Promise Academy Charter Schools. Leading a public/private partnership, Canada launched his vision to create a pipeline to support children from birth through college graduation, utilizing a comprehensive set of wraparound resources. His uncompromising focus on high quality education, integrated with social and health services, has become America's leading anti-poverty model. Canada has proven it is possible to reverse the cycle of urban decay and transform an entire community. Thus the children of Harlem dedicate this community center to a man who always believed in them.
