Here from 1927 to 1931 worked the director and theater manager Erwin Piscator (17 December 1893 – 30 March 1966).

In his revolutionary productions, he used all available technological resources to enhance the theatrical experience. In 1927, he founded the "Piscator Theatre" at Nollendorfplatz, presenting Ernst Toller's play "Oops, We Are Still Alive!" as its inaugural production.
