1. Downtown Near the Tracks Marker

Soot on the marker is from the Arcade & Attica Railroad steam engine #18.

Inscription. The fire of 1898 destroyed all of the wood-frame commercial buildings east of the bank, but the three-story brick bank prevented the fire from spreading to the western portion of downtown.

This 1907 postcard featured the building at 285 Main Street. Built around 1852, it is now downtown's oldest commercial building.
