More about this marker. Most online sources say that Keats died on February 23, not the 24th. He died in the overnight hours between the two days.
The plaque is on the side of a building called the Keats-Shelly Memorial House, named after Keats and Percy Shelley and home to a museum honoring those two poets and several others.
Regarding The House Where John Keats Died. In November 1820, the poet John Keats, suffering from tuberculosis, went to Rome with hopes that a warmer climate might improve his well-being. He died in this home, which overlooks the Spanish Steps, about three months later, on February 23, 1821.
